Aerobiotix, Inc. today announced it has been awarded a group purchasing agreement for its patented Illuvia® ultraviolet air disinfection products with Premier, Inc., a leading health care improvement company uniting an alliance of approximately 3,900 U.S. hospitals and 150,000 other provider organizations. This agreement, effective February 1, 2018, underscores the growing value of environmental disinfection technologies to Premier’s member hospitals, who translate cleaner environments into reduced risks for hospital acquired infection (HAI). Aerobiotix technologies have been proven in peer-reviewed studies to greatly reduce air microbial levels in multiple critical health care settings, including operating rooms.
As hospitals face increasing pressure to reduce their HAI rates, evidence continues to mount that hospital air quality plays a significant role in the incidence of infections, including surgical site infection. Hospitals using Aerobiotix ultraviolet air disinfection systems have shown reductions in air microbial levels greater than 50 percent.
