WITH THE DEMISE OF SEVERAL HOLLYWOOD FILM COMPANIES, CHINA IS NOW COLLABORATING WITH U.S. COMPANIES, STRIVING TO BECOME THE WORLD’S MOST POWERFUL FILM MARKET

CHINA SALESMAN // TRICOAST WORLDWIDE
China joins the Hollywood film industry with Chinese films, ready to embark on a “new beginning” for Hollywood – one with successful and sustainable collaborations between U.S. and China, highlighting Director Tan Bing’s “CHINA SALESMAN”.

Los Angeles, CA - December 7, 2017 -

New Year, new beginning.

With the start of the New Year quickly approaching, Hollywood is about to get a fresh start.

Hollywood news headlines are full with the film industry’s scandal that erupted earlier this year – flashing with rumors of inappropriate behavior and misconduct within the workplace. As CEOs step down from their positions and billion-dollar buyouts disappear, optimism stays strong with the emergence of Chinese filmmakers in Hollywood.

Dubbing the Chinese market at the world’s second-biggest market (estimated to become number one by at least 2020), Patrick Bzresk from The Hollywood Reporter emphasized the market’s long-term “sustainability”. Despite conflicts and failures in the past between the Chinese and US markets, Chinese entertainment is conveying the global concern of “the gloomy prognostication about the boom cycle's early demise”, which are “important signs that the two industries have been evolving toward a more sustainable and mutually beneficial footing.”

“We are taking a more targeted approach and thinking more strategically about how we collaborate," said Song Ge, chairman of one the hottest studios in Beijing, Beijing Culture Media.

Though U.S. studios may struggle to adapt to the Chinese film market environment and bridge the Chinese and Western cultures, some brave players in the film game are ready to collaborate with the Chinese, creating successful content.

“Given the enormous upside of breakout Chinese films… many insiders have come to conclude that the Hollywood majors are missing a huge opportunity by failing to pursue the local-language space with greater urgency,” wrote Bzresk.

This progression and massive step towards successful collaboration between the two culturally distinct industries was evident at the 2017 American Film Market earlier this November, with U.S.’ TriCoast Worldwide and Chinese company, Golden God Video & Culture Company’s $20 million USD action-packed film, “CHINA SALESMAN”.

Successful negotiations were conducted by Marcy Levitas Hamilton for TriCoast Worldwide and translated by TriCoast Worldwide’s Hengqing "Kat” Pan.

“With the decline of American dominance in the international trading world, China is stepping up to export their culture via the medium of film. This presents a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and we invite other China filmmakers to expand their audience and ideas by re-purposing and distributing their films for a western audience,” said Marcy Levitas Hamilton, TriCoast Worldwide CEO.

Based on a true story, “CHINA SALESMAN” follows a highly skilled IT Chinese engineer, Yan Jian (Dong Xue Li), who travels to North Africa for a nationwide competition between technology companies. As world technology companies struggle to determine which country obtains the world’s best technology to assist the locals’ communication systems between the north and the south, Jian discovers that some countries have their own corrupted agendas.

Jian uncovers the conspiracy of French spy, Michael and his conspiracy to gain ultimate control over Africa’s mineral sources. To accomplish this, Jian hires the great mercenary, Lauder (Steven Seagal), and former general, Kabbah (Mike Tyson).

After interviewing Director Tan Bing at the market, Alex Ritman, UK correspondent for The Hollywood Reporter headlined: “’China Salesman’ Is the Most ‘AFM’ Film of AFM”.

Highlighting the spectacular fight scene between Aikido sensation, Steven Seagal and former heavyweight champ, Mike Tyson, which racked up over 1,300,000 views when the trailer was first released in June, Ritman wrote, “the two square off in an eight-minute fight scene that pits Seagal’s lightning-fast palms against Tyson’s thunderous fists.”

“CHINA SALESMAN” is co-financed by the Chinese conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group from six Oscar comedy, ‘La La Land’, Summit Entertainment’s ‘John Wick’, and Lionsgates’ ‘Power Rangers’. Alongside, “CHINA SALESMAN” is co-financed by TIK and China’s state-run, China Film Group.

“CHINA SALESMAN” was successfully released in China during May and will be coming to U.S. audiences in 2018.

“CHINA SALESMAN” contains a worldwide cast and crew, including the lead of Dong Xue Li (“Sacrifice”, “The Wonderful Wedding”), Eriq Ebouaney (“Hitman”, “Transporter3”), Steven Seagal (“Above the Law”, “Under Siege”) and former heavyweight champ, Mike Tyson (“Rocky Balboa”, “The Hangover”).

With the immense opportunities in the near future for Chinese and U.S. film market collaborations, President of Motion Pictures at CAA China, Jonah Greenberg said, “The way we see things, this has only been the beginning."

TriCoast Worldwide is also representing Bing’s new project, “FATAL CONTRACT”, featuring Jacky ZhaoBai Ling, and Xuan Miao
