The Roxbury Institute's Drs. David Amron and Jaime S. Schwartz to Speak at the Fat Disorders Research Society (FDRS) 2017 Conference

Leading Beverly Hills Surgeons Share Insights into Treating Women with Lipedema

Los Angeles, CA - April 28, 2017 - (Newswire.com)

The Roxbury Institute’s founder and lipedema treatment pioneer David Amron, MD, along with Jaime S. Schwartz, MD, FACS, Director of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Beverly Hills, California institute, will be speaking at the Fat Disorders Research Society (FDRS) 2017 Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, held April 28 through 30 at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center.

A leader in lipedema and fat disorder treatments, The Roxbury Institute marks one of the most specialized and experienced medical and research facilities for the fat storage disease. At this year’s conference, titled Lipedema & Dercum’s Disease: Goals for the Future and Tools for Today, Dr. Schwartz has been invited to speak on Lymphatic Sparing Adjunct Plastic Surgical Procedures, a subject he is specialized in. Additionally, Dr. Amron will be leading an important session on Liposuction for Dercum’s Disease.

“I am incredibly enthusiastic about the opportunity to engage with and share my knowledge of this disease and the latest treatment options with attendees of the FDRS conference,” said Dr. Schwartz. “This year, I will be speaking on the plastic surgical procedures that go above and beyond normal treatment for lipedema. Dr. Amron and myself are developing an entirely new category that will further treat lipedema patients after they have had lymphatic sparing liposuction.”

It is estimated more than 17 million women in the U.S. alone struggle with the often-painful and potentially debilitating disease. As of last year, Dr. Schwartz became the first fellow of The Lipedema Society’s International Surgical Fellowship Program, led by Dr. Amron, who has long been regarded as one of the foremost experts in treating lipedema.

“For too long, surgeons were completely unaware of lipedema and how to treat it,” said Dr. Amron. “However, with conferences such as these, more and more skilled surgeons are becoming informed and even specialized in its treatment. This is great progress and I am so happy to be a part of it for another year.”

Each year, the FDRS conference brings together top physicians and researchers in the industry to discuss, educate, and network on topics surrounding lipedema and similar fat disorders. In addition to two innovative treatment discussions led by the surgeons on Saturday, April 29, Dr. Amron will be present with two of The Roxbury Institute’s latest lipedema patients to have been treated and will be amongst many more he has cared for at the event.

This year, individuals will have the opportunity to livestream Drs. Schwartz and Amron’s sessions at https://livestream.com/FDRS2017
