Greg Waite, CEO of InventionShare, an invention equity company, announced today that the inventors of Circuit Seed have provided the design, multipurpose Circuit Seed libraries and cadence files to simulate designs for a Full-Differential CiFET OpAmp

The CiFET™ is a novel CMOS building block composed of complementary iFET™ devices which are a modification of the traditional MOSFET that exploits the transistor's unique charge-based characteristics. It can be built into multiple stages creating high gain voltage amplifiers, called CiAmps (single-ended or differential single-stage, 2-stage, 3-stage, and 3-stage feed-forward CiAmp can be constructed). This full-differential CiFET OpAmp is anticipated to be a baseline configuration. Each of the CiAmp arrangements do not use traditional power hungry analog current mirrors or state-of-the-art bulky analog transistors for gain but, instead, have a low output impedance which drives stiff resistive and capacitive loads, is small, low power, and scalable into nanotechnology IC process nodes.

Keith Taylor, Vice President of Licensing, said, “This is a big breakthrough for InventionShare and the inventors of Circuit Seed, as we have companies lined up awaiting these files so that they can test them in applications where size and power consumption are important - specifically in applications such as IoT/IoE or/and any electronic devices or sensors where mixed signals are prevalent.”

Circuit Seed's digital building blocks for processing analog signals are charge mode devices and, therefore, use a fraction of the electricity used by state of the art analog devices. For example, optical applications are dramatically leveraged by reduced power requirements because they provide for much higher throughput per energy unit. With regard to communications applications, the simplified RF with extended range and very low noise to signal ratio uses less power with greater output. In the burgeoning sensor market, Circuit Seed will enable very low powered, miniaturized devices to displace larger power hungry devices.

Some examples of Circuit Seed applications include Single-ended Operational Amplifiers (OpAmps), Differential Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) Proportional to Temperature Reference (PTAT), Phase-Locked-Loop (PLL), Ring Oscillator with Ultra-High Spectral Purity, Multi-GHz Ring Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO), Frequency Mixers, Combined Analog and Digital System-on-Chip (SoC), Internet of Things (IoT) Applications, Memory and Processors, Voltage/Temperature Referencing, Analog-to-Digital Conversion (ADC), Digital-to-Analog Conversion (DAC), Sensing, Modulation/Demodulation, and more.

Greg Waite concurred with Mr. Taylor and said, “We now know that Circuit Seed is a significant breakthrough for mixed signal devices, semiconductors and sensors - and specifically in areas where size is important. For example, as process shrinks, performance scales with logic speed with Circuit Seed designs where other circuits have all kinds of major problems.”

The inventors of Circuit Seed are working on a number of other applications related to mixed analog signal applications including communications, mobile device, wearables, sonar and radar, sound, imaging and photonics.

InventionShare is now in discussions with a number of semiconductor companies and is looking to license or partner with companies interested in using Circuit Seed designs. The Full-Differential CiFET OpAmp Cadence files are available for immediate review. For more information, contact Keith Taylor at ktaylor@inventionshare.com
