Market Update (NYSE:BA): Chinese airline orders 110 Boeing jets

[AAP] – China’s biggest airline says it’s buying more than a hundred Boeing 737 jets in a deal worth about $US10 billion ($A13.87 billion) just months after the US plane-maker announced plans to build a Chinese finishing plant for the aircraft type. China Southern Airlines is buying 30 Boeing 737 Next Generation jets and 50 737 Max aircraft, the company said in a statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange on Thursday. Its Xiamen Airlines unit is buying 30 of Boeing’s 737 Max jets. Read more on this. The Boeing Company (BA) , currently valued at $99.86B, started trading this morning at $148.85. During today’s session, BA traded between $142.27 to $149.34 with a one year range of $115.14 to $158.83. BA shares are currently priced at 17.76x this year’s forecasted earnings, which makes them relatively inexpensive compared to the industry’s 36.33x earnings multiple. The company pays shareholders $3.64 per share annually in dividends, yielding 2.55%. According to a consensus of 18 analysts, the earnings estimate of $2.16 per share would be $0.15 worse than the year-ago quarter and a $0.16 sequential decrease. Investors should also note that the full-year EPS estimate of $8.25 is a $0.35 setback when compared to the previous year’s annual results. The quarterly earnings estimate is predicated on a consensus revenue forecast of $23.40 Billion. If reported, that would be a 4.37% decrease over the year-ago quarter.
