The Toronto community will come together on March 19, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM EDT at the YWCA for a powerful screening of the documentary Braving Healing, followed by a moderated panel discussion and access to community resources.
Braving Healing explores the complex, often nonlinear journey of healing after childhood sexual abuse (CSA). The documentary weaves together six deeply personal stories of resilience and recovery alongside insights from experts and advocates. From confronting addiction and reaching rock bottom to achieving closure through justice, Braving Healing offers a sober yet hopeful invitation to take the next step toward healing, however big or small. Created in collaboration with The Gatehouse and Preszler Injury Lawyers, the film has been described by international leaders as “a roadmap to healing.”
The Toronto screening and panel will bring together survivors, advocates, and professionals in the field of CSA for a candid and trauma-informed conversation. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage with community resource tables offering support, education, and guidance on therapy, advocacy, justice, and more. Participating organizations include (subject to change):
- Sheltering Oaks Psychotherapy
- The Gatehouse
- Ampersands Restorative Justice
- Newmoon Psychotherapy
- Community Justice Initiatives
- Preszler Injury Lawyers (sponsor)
- SNAP Network
- Survivors for Justice Reform
- Kristi White, Author and Activist
“Many survivors leave conversations about CSA feeling informed but without the resources to take their next steps,” said the organizers. “This event bridges that gap by providing a survivor-centered, trauma-informed space where stories are shared, experiences are validated, and multiple pathways to healing are offered.”
Media partners are invited to join a meaningful international movement to raise awareness around CSA, healing, and justice. This event offers a rare opportunity to witness an intimate, survivor-led dialogue that brings the community together and highlights how local initiatives can have global impact.
