IVF Academy USA Appoints Chris Flynn, RN as Director of Nursing Programs

In this new role, Flynn will build a formal training pipeline for fertility nurses

IVF Academy USA today announced the appointment of Chris Flynn, RN as director of Nursing Programs, where she will lead the development and expansion of structured, simulation-based education pathways designed specifically for aspiring fertility nurses.

The appointment comes at a pivotal time, as both nationwide nursing shortages and the rapid rise in demand for assisted reproductive technologies (ART) have created a bottleneck in fertility care. IVF Academy USA’s Nursing Programs fill a critical gap through an immersive curriculum that integrates reproductive endocrinology, embryology, genetics, mental health, ethics and hands-on lab simulation, preparing nurses to contribute from day one in fertility practice settings.

With more than two decades of experience in fertility care, Flynn steps into this leadership role to address the fact that too few nurses are trained specifically in ART and fertility patient care. In traditional nursing education, infertility is often limited to a single textbook chapter, with no dedicated rotation. As a result, most clinics rely on an informal onboarding model where new hires shadow colleagues for months, learning one task at a time while simultaneously trying to keep pace with high-volume patient workflows.

“Across the industry, there has never been a formal pathway preparing nurses specifically for fertility care,” said Dr. Paul Magarelli, MD, PhD, MS and Dean of the Clinical School. “We asked Chris to build this program because she understands not only the clinical demands of reproductive medicine, but also the emotional resilience and communication skills required to thrive in this field.”

Under Flynn’s leadership, the Nursing Programs will continue to evolve as an accelerated, hands-on training pathway preparing nurses to immediately contribute within high-demand fertility clinics. Flynn’s first-year priorities include strengthening didactic instruction, expanding simulation lab integration and launching new course modules in leadership, phlebotomy and IV insertion as these are key clinical skills that enhance confidence, autonomy and readiness in fertility-focused nursing roles.

“This program gives aspiring fertility nurses what I never had: an intentional, hands-on pathway into a highly specialized field,” said Flynn. “IVF Academy USA is a launch pad for nurses to walk into fertility clinics equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence this specialty demands.”
