Boingo Wireless to Discuss 5G, Wi-Fi & Base Housing Solutions at Association of Defense Communities Annual Event

Boingo Senior Vice President & General Manager Rebecca Gray will lead conversation on installation partnerships and investments, highlighting how wireless connectivity helps solve housing infrastructure challenges on U.S. military bases

Boingo Wireless, a leading provider of wireless solutions for the U.S. military, will join the Association of Defense Communities (ADC) Installation Innovation Forum keynote on Tuesday, Nov. 7. The keynote session will address the biggest housing challenges military families, installations and communities face. Rebecca Gray, senior vice president and general manager of military at Boingo, will facilitate a conversation surrounding base housing solutions, and necessities to support wireless network installation resilience and an enhanced quality of life for service members and their families.

“The Department of Defense is committed to ensuring Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines have connectivity. Reliable and resilient communications infrastructure is critical for mission readiness as well as quality of life on base. Service members require high-speed Wi-Fi access for a multitude of reasons—education, communication, support services and recreational opportunities. Prioritizing this need when assessing housing solutions underscores commitment to their well-being,” said Gray. “The deployment of cutting-edge Boingo 5G and Wi-Fi networks on U.S. military bases not only bolsters mission readiness, it strengthens the social fabric and overall well-being of our military communities.”

With award-winning 5G and Wi-Fi network solutions, Boingo is the Department of Defense’s trusted partner, providing connectivity at more than 85 Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy and Homeland Security Training Center locations worldwide. As experts in designing, building and managing technology-agnostic communication infrastructure, Boingo is able to leverage the wireless solution that best meets the needs of each base and its mission. Meeting the unique needs of every base, Boingo delivers fast Wi-Fi for troops living in the barracks and on-base family housing without contracts, appointments or equipment needed; connectivity for military education and facilities on base including gyms, classrooms and offices; macro towers and small cells for seamless cellular service; and private cellular solutions for secure 5G and IoT deployments on base. Supporting installation modernization and resilience, Boingo’s secure networks are backed by a 24/7/365 Network Operations Center, feature zero-trust security and meet stringent Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security requirements.

Troops who sign up for Boingo Wi-Fi can use the same account as they move to other Boingo-connected bases around the world. They also receive access to Boingo Wi-Fi in major airports and more than 1 million hotspots globally at places like hotels, restaurants and retail locations. Boingo recently activated high-speed Wi-Fi service at Travis Air Force Base and Sheppard Air Force Base, and deployed a first of its kind private 5G network at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

Serving in the U.S. military, Colonel Rebecca Gray is currently the Vice Wing Commander, 111th Attack Wing at Biddle Air National Guard Base and serves on the State Diversity Council for the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Following the ADC Installation Innovation Forum, Boingo will be releasing an educational eBook that provides an in-depth look at the critical role of 5G and Wi-Fi for on-base quality of life and to ensure U.S. Armed Forces are prepared, informed and connected—no matter where they are stationed.
