PARNAÍBA, PIAUÍ, BRAZIL AND NAGOYA, AICHI, JAPAN / ACCESS Newswire / October 23, 2025 / NEBRA Hydrogen Research and Development S.A. ("NEBRA") and NITERRA Co., Ltd. today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on an innovative, bankable green hydrogen solution. This strategic collaboration will leverage Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cell (SOEC) technology, a high-efficiency hydrogen production technology developed by NITERRA using its core ceramics expertise.
The partnership's initial focus will be a proof of concept for green hydrogen production, starting with a demonstrator project. The demonstrator will be installed and operated at the Piauí test site in Brazil as the first step of a comprehensive feasibility study.
Project Details and Vision:
NEBRA, a Brazilian company dedicated to the research and development of innovative projects and technologies regarding green hydrogen and its derivatives, will be responsible for providing the test site, necessary utilities, operating staff, and covering operational expenses. NITERRA, a global company expanding into the next-generation energy sector, will supply the SOEC electrolyzer unit and conduct a training campaign for NEBRA's operating staff.
The Parties have agreed to install Demonstrators in Piaui utilizing Niterra's SOEC technology. The Demonstrators will serve to rigorously validate and publicly prove the achievement of highly efficient and stable long-duration hydrogen production.
The completed demonstrator will be used for a feasibility study on leveraging the produced hydrogen as a feedstock for green ammonia, green methanol, and green steel applications. NEBRA reserves the right to decide the specific use of the hydrogen produced.
The Parties' discussions on potential future expansion will target fulfilling the growing demand for green hydrogen in Piauí and addressing a large scale demand on SOEC water electrolysis contributing to Brazil's new industries and decarbonization.
