Illusionist Robby Bennett isn’t known for donning a top hat and tails during his performances, despite the cliche image most have of a magician. However, that has changed. While playing  the fictitious “World’s Greatest Magician” Howard Blackrock in the new Murder Mystery ‘Damfino,’ Bennett has made some updates to his wardrobe in order to portray the 1885 conjuror. Bennett who has been bringing astonishing entertainment in his own unique style to corporate events, comedy clubs and universities since the age of 12, has spent the last decade headlining theaters, with ‘Damfino’ being a new exercise on how to do something new and original with his ancient art.

In the middle of a performance, Blackstone is abruptly murdered as a gunshot is heard from the audience. In conjunction with this travesty, Inspector Sibley arrives on the scene and is on the case. Sibley is played by Paul Matthew Lopez, who for 10 years was the closing act in Las Vegas show ‘Absinthe’ at Caesar’s Palace, one of the most successful shows of all time on The Strip. Recently, Lopez completed a run playing a multitalented Santa Claus in the new seasonal hit ‘Dingle Bells’ in Las Vegas.

As the investigation proceeds, it is discovered that Blackrock has an extensive and highly questionable past in the port city where the show takes place, Galveston, Texas, which at that time was a lawless haven overrun by pirates such as Jean LaFitte. Suspects in the audience, all played by audience members, are brought on stage to further explore the evidence. Blackrock’s questionable past is explored within “memory scenes” with Bennett returning as a younger “Flashback Blackrock” to astonish the

audience with routines of magic and illusion as each scene explores the suspects’ motives with Sibley guiding the process with a comedic flair.

This new concept period piece will enthrall audience with the elements of a magic show and an interactive period murder mystery. Will the killer be caught and who will solve the case? No matter what, everyone is in for a good time.
