MEDIA NEWS ON INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES

 

Subject: Statement made pursuant to Circular VIII, No: 39 of the Capital Markets Board.

This is an announcement as per the request of ISE inquiring about various news on media.

 

As appeared in various news agencies today and as previously announced on December 10, 2007 and on February 27, 2008, as part of our efforts to evaluate investment opportunities in the region, we are in discussions for the purchase of shares in Syriatel Mobile Telecom (“Syriatel”) originated in Syria and that the discussions are expected to be shaped within 30 days.

 

Additionally, in the same context, we are evaluating the investment opportunities in Eastern Europe as appeared on media and whether there is any clear opportunity or not is estimated to be clarified within 90 days.

 

In case any material development occurs with regards to this subject, Turkcell will make necessary announcement according to the Circular VIII, No: 39 of the Capital Markets Board regulations.
